Research demonstrates a direct correlation between a child developing strong phonemic awareness skills and becoming a highly successful reader. Understand the progressing levels of phonemic awareness instruction that research has shown are so critical in developing successful readers. A teacher’s depth-of-knowledge when teaching these essential reading-readiness skills is of critical importance.

Phonics First® Make and Take

Phonics First® Writing Workshop
Teachers K-5
Description and Additional Information
This workshop provides teachers with hands-on strategies for teaching writing skills to beginning or at-risk students. The essential components of the writing process will be addressed using Diana Hanbury-King's Writing Skills series. Essentials such as sentence writing, paragraph construction, purposes of writing, and components of an essay will be covered.

Phonics First® Foundations Refresher
Teachers K-5
Description and Additional Information
This course is designed to review the RLAC Phonics First® Foundations Level I methodology. Multisensory techniques, strategies and concepts will be reviewed, new insights will be gained and accuracy of the program will be ensured. Review will include phonemic awareness/alphabet strategies, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic techniques for phonetic and non-phonetic words and syllabication strategies for all Foundations Layers. Trainer will also lead a question-and-answer session. (Pre-requisite – PF210)
