What is On-Site Tutoring?
Bring our highly acclaimed Phonics First™ program on-site to your building. We offer customized tutoring programs based on literacy goals, student needs, various learning abilities, and your budget.
While each program is tailored to meet your needs, a typical program consists of expertly trained RLAC tutors working with small groups of children twice weekly for one-hour sessions. Sessions are held during or after school.
Research from Detroit Public Schools
Fleming Elementary, a Detroit Public School, hired RLAC to provide trained Phonics First™ instructors to teach their fourth grade students. This group was targeted because they were struggling and were the most likely to impact the school's overall performance on the state test. Students were placed into groups of three based on skill similarities and student needs. Each group received Phonics First™ instruction in one- hour sessions, twice weekly. Lessons emphasized phonics for decoding and encoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Instruction began in November and the MEAP took place in early February. Fleming Elementary increased their state reading scores from 56.2% to 82.5% after only three months of Phonics First™ instruction. |
Our students showed remarkable progress and our MEAP state reading scores jumped from 56.2 to 82.5 after only three months of Phonics First™ On-Site Tutoring. I would highly recommend it to any [urban] school wishing to make significant gains in student reading ability. No school should be without it!
